The Slack Auto Parts Company was started in 1928 by William H. Slack Jr. to sell parts and accessories to the growing automotive aftermarket. Beginning with one location in Gainesville, Georgia, the company expanded into the North Georgia market. During World War II, the company's machine shop helped the war effort by producing shell casings for the U.S. Army. Over the years, the company gained a reputation for quality parts and service.
William H. Slack Jr. passed away in 1971 and his son, William H. Slack III, took over for him. The company continued to expand in the North Georgia area.
